This song was written for ‘The Chiffons’ by Doug Morris in 1966. Doug had joined ‘Laurie Records’ as a songwriter and producer the previous year. He eventually became it’s vice president and general manager. Morris went on to become one of the most respected and influential executives in the global music industry and became Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment in 2011.
Morris told the story to Billboard magazine: "The song was very heavily influenced by a Supremes song. I produced the session at Allegro Sound Studios (New York) with Elliot Greenberg, (one of the owners for Laurie Records) along with Gene and Bob Schwartz. I wrote it however back then the owners of the record labels got the writing credit”.
This was the last of five Top 40 hits for The Chiffons in the US. The song originally peaked at No.31 in the UK and was re-released six years later, climbing to No.4.
This is a one off single rhythm complete with intro's/endings/fills & variations written in the style of the song for Korg instruments. (Please note this is not a song file - often refered to as a midi file - that refers to and plays only one song. Subject to the chords you play on your instrument this style can be used for many numbers of which Sweet Talking Guy is just one).
