The song "My Guy" was a hit single recorded by Mary Wells for the Motown label in 1964. It was written and produced by Smokey Robinson of The Miracles and has the theme of a woman's dedication to the goodness of her man.
It became Wells’ biggest hit and reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart on 16 May 1964. It was also to be Wells' last hit single for Motown (except for duets she recorded with Marvin Gaye). An option in her recording contract allowed her to terminate the contract after she reached her 21st birthday (May 13, 1964). Encouraged by her ex-husband, she broke her Motown contract and signed with 20th Century Fox in hoping for higher royalties and possible movie roles. Wells' career never again reached the heights it had at Motown.
As an interesting aside it should be noted the song has been adopted by many as a Christian number, with lyrics pertaining and in tribute to Jesus Christ.
This is a one off single rhythm complete with intro's/endings/fills & variations written in the style of the song for Yamaha SFF instruments. (Please note this is not a song file - often refered to as a midi file - that refers to and plays only one song. Subject to the chords you play on your instrument this style can be used for many numbers of which My Guy is just one).
