Mamma Mia is the opening track on the group's third album, Abba. Written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson, with the lead vocals shared by Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. It was penned at the home of Agnetha and Björn and was the last track recorded for the album. It was one of four songs that had a music video made to promote the album. "Mamma Mia" and was never originally intended for release as a single.
The distinctive sound at the start of the song is the marimba. According to biographer Carl Magnus Palm, the instrument was incorporated at the last minute, added after Benny Andersson found it in the studio and decided its "tick tock" rhythm was perfect for the track. As many artists were recording ABBA songs (such as "Honey, Honey" and "Bang a Boomerang"), ABBA in fact offered "Mamma Mia" to pop group Brotherhood of Man, who turned it down!
This is a one off single rhythm complete with intro's/endings/fills & variations written in the style of the song for Yamaha SFF instruments. (Please note this is not a song file - often refered to as a midi file - that refers to and plays only one song. Subject to the chords you play on your instrument this style can be used for many numbers of which Mamma Mia is just one).
