This song written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon & McCartney) was released in 1964 by the Beatles as the A-side of their 8th British single. Reaching No.1 in the UK (December 1964) it displaced the Rolling Stones ‘Little Red Rooster’ and remained at the top for 5 weeks. The song topped the US chart for 3 weeks in late 1964 and early 1965. By 2012 ‘I Feel Fine’ had sold 1.41 million copies in the UK, as of December 2018, it was the 53rd best-selling UK single of all time (one of six Beatles songs included in the top sales rankings published by the UK's Official Charts Company).
Lennon wrote the guitar riff while in the studio recording ‘Eight Days a Week’. Interestingly the song has one of the first uses of guitar feedback in popular music.
