The song was written by John Phillips & Michelle Phillips and was first recorded by Barry McGuire. However, the best known versions were recorded by ‘The Mamas & the Papas’ & ‘The Beach Boys’ (our style is more based on the Beach Boys version). The song lyrics express the narrator's longing for the warmth of Los Angeles during a cold winter in New York City. "California Dreamin'" was certified as a Gold Record by the Recording Industry Association of America in June 1966 and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001.
The Beach Boys recorded their cover version of "California Dreamin'" in 1986 for their greatest hits compilation ‘Made in U.S.A.’. It was produced by Terry Melcher and featured Roger McGuinn from The Byrds on 12-string guitar. The song reached No 8 in the US charts helped by a music video that saw heavy play on MTV.
This is a one-off single rhythm complete with intro's/endings/fills & variations written in the style of the song for Yamaha SFF instruments. (Please note this is not a song file - often referred to as a midi file - that refers to and plays only one song. Subject to the chords you play on your instrument this style can be used for many numbers of which California Dreamin is just one).
